WE'RE STILL HERE
This content was captured in April of 2015 and 2016. It follows holocaust survivor, Erwin Farkas, on his return to the places he was held prisoner over 70 years ago. An annual reunion is held by an organization reuniting the Children of Kloster Indersdorf, the displaced persons center that Erwin and his brother spent time at after their liberation.
In 2016 I accompanied Erwin to the site of Auschwitz-Birkenau for the first time since his imprisonment. We returned to Auschwitz III / Buna - Monowitz where Erwin worked as a forced laborer filing metal. We saw the land where the barracks he slept in used to stand and the remains of the factories he worked within. We went to the train platform at Birkenau, the last place Erwin saw his mother and sisters, and walked through the main camp at Auschwitz.
This project was featured in MNTV's 2016 showcase.
